History

The Grace Park International (GPI) Group is in the manufacture of building materials such as kitchen and closet systems, vanity cabinets, louver and interior doors, as well as furniture for the home and office for both the international as well as the domestic market. Its operations consist of three manufacturing facilities in Metro Manila, and a fourth facility in Meycauayan, Bulacan. The group employs over a 1500 people.

Each of the four plants in Valenzuela has its own distinct product line of wood-based building materials and furniture. The facilities of these plants have been designed to complement each other to achieve a higher level of efficiency and production capacity.

Grace Park Industries, Inc.

Grace Park Industries (GPI) started operations in 1956 to manufacture wood-based industrial packaging materials. It was a major supplier of wooden boxes and pallets to customers such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi Cola and San Miguel Beer Corp. As its operations grew, GPI transferred its facilities from Grace Park, Kalookan City, to Valenzuela, Metro Manila, with a factory area of 120,000 sq. ft.

GPI anticipated the replacement of wooden containers by plastic crates and started its program to develop new products and markets for its plant facilities. By 1985, the plant started exporting to the USA and Germany. Within the next three years, GPI was providing cabinet doors and louver doors to customers in the USA and Europe. In 1988, GPI set up a second plant with a factory area of 180,000-sq. ft. to produce and export kitchen cabinet systems, vanity cabinets, medicine cabinets, over-the-johns and wardrobe and closet storage systems.

Today, GPI has become a major supplier of doors, kitchen and closet cabinets to some of the major home centers in the USA such as The Home Depot. In 1998, GPI was awarded the "Best of the Best" supplier of the year award by The Home Depot for GPI's excellent shipping and quality performance.

GPI has also moved aggressively into the domestic institutional and retail market for modular kitchen systems, wardrobe closets, vanity cabinets and flush and molded doors. It is now a major player in the country. Among its major clients are the biggest real estate developers, contractors and multinational corporations in the Philippines. Some of their projects include Essensa, Pacific Plaza Twin Towers, Roxas Triangle, Forbes Tower, Brent International School, and Asian Hospital to name a few.

GPI International Export Corporation

GPI International Export (GPII) was incorporated in 1991. Its plant has a covered area of 250,000-sq. ft. located also in Valenzuela, Metro Manila.

This venture of the Grace Park Group was set up primarily to service the flat pack furniture products for IKEA, the furniture retail giant of Sweden. Impressed with the quality of GPI products, the Swedish group technically assisted in the set-up of GPII's plant. Swedish consultants were assigned at the plant for the first three years of its operation to ensure that the Swedish technology of furniture production and quality or "Mobelfakta" is fully transferred. As a result, GPII boasts of having one of the most efficient, highly automated and environment friendly factories in the region.

Today, GPII supplies customers worldwide. We are proud to name as our customers some of the most successful upscale furniture retailers in the US such as Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn for Kids and Land's End along with others. Over the past few years, it has started to penetrate the local furniture market for home and office flat furniture. It supplies the furniture requirements the major retailers such as Makro, the SM Group, Abenson and the Waltermart.

It is likewise making its presence felt in the local institutional market. GPII is now involved in contract manufacturing for major hotels, condominiums, schools and offices. Its projects include the Pan Pacific Hotel, The Sheraton Hotel Group, British Airways, Qantas Airways, Thai Airways, Brent International School, Ateneo Graduate School, Asian Hospital, are among its major clients.

GPII's product line includes bedroom furniture, dining tables and chairs, china cabinets, entertainment centers, bookcases, upholstered sofas and chairs, and office systems.

Panel Products Industries, Incorporated

Panel Products Industries, Inc. (PPI) is a manufacturer of particleboard and is the newest wood related company of the Group. Being the first of its kind in the country, it is registered with the Board of Investments on a Pioneer status and has started commercial operations in early 1998.

This project was implemented as part of the integration strategy of the Group to supply its export oriented sister companies, GPI and GPII with their particle board requirements and thus enhance their economic viability. The rest of the production is sold to the domestic market.

Prior to the entry of PPI, all of the country's particleboard requirements were imported. Today, PPI has captured more than 50% of the domestic market.

PPI is situated in a 200,000-sq. ft. plant located in Meycauayan, Bulacan. It has an annual capacity of about 30,000 cu. mts. of particleboard. Its manufacturing process is highly automated and primarily uses German machinery and technology. PPI recycles the wood waste material of GPI and GPII as a source of raw material. This is augmented by wood chips from other sawmills and woodworking operations within the neighboring area. The particleboard mill effectively helps relieve the environmental problem associated with waste wood waste disposal.

Grace Park International, Inc.

In order to better service their customers and to achieve increased operational synergy, GPI Group began a corporate reorganization mid-year 2002. Completed in early 2003, all of the business interests were consolidated under a single company, GRACE PARK INTERNATIONAL INC.

At Grace Park, world-class products are now within reach.
